Two adults and three juveniles have been arrested after a year-long investigation into a string of burglaries and acts of vandalism that occurred between December 2022 and April 2023 in Batavia. In March 2023, the Batavia Police Department began investigating several reports of extensive damage to area businesses and citizen property that were reported to have occurred between December 2022 and April 2023. A 20-year-old Geneva woman has succumbed to injuries sustained when the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed into utility pole Thursday morning. Sandra Sanchez passed yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. A 15-year-old Naperville student has been identified as one of the deceased following an avalanche in Switzerland Monday. Aleksas Beiga, a freshman at Naperville Central High School, was on spring break when he died during an April 1 avalanche near a ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland. Alexas was the son of former Lithuainian Olymipic swimmer Nerijus Beiga, and is also survived by his mother Sonata, his sister Eva, his grandmothers Marija and Birute, and his uncles Edvinas, Marius and Gediminas. A Bolingbrook man was arrested Wednesday evening on allegations that he dealt cocaine in the Naperville area. Naperville Police, with assistance from the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group, arrested the 27-year-old following a month-long investigation into alleged cocaine sales in the Naperville area. The arrest took place shortly after 7:30pm Wednesday evening in a parking lot in the 6000 block of Illinois Route 53 in Woodridge. The suspect, of the 300 block of Whitewater Drive, Bolingbrook, has been charged with two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (one Class X felony and one Class 1 felony).
