Gilberts Community Days is the Village of Gilberts’ annual festival to bring residents, visitors, and businesses together in a weekend-long celebration of community and fun. Live musical entertainment on stage, free children’s activities including a petting zoo, a carnival full of rides and games, local food and drinks, and a classic car show highlight the four-day extravaganza. Admission is free. Carnival lovers will have the venue to themselves as Gilberts Community Days begins at 6pm on Thursday, May 30. The festival kicks in to full gear on Friday at 5pm. A former DuPage County Assistant State’s Attorney has been arrested and charged in federal court for allegedly threatening two Illinois State Representatives and their families via social media. According to a press release from United States Attorney’s Office Central District, the complaint alleges that on March 17, 2024, the Illinois State Police were contacted by two Illinois State Representatives about a threat that they had received via the social media company X, formerly known as Twitter.  The social media post stated, “Our patience grows short with you. An Aurora man is in custody after being charged with the kidnapping of a 17-year-old in Aurora. Early Wednesday afternoon, police were notified by the victim that she had been kidnapped in the area of Illinois Avenue and Orchard Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and learned the victim was walking in a nearby neighborhood when a man, unknown to her, began following her.
