An Elgin man is in hospital after having suffered gunshot wounds during an altercation Sunday evening. At 11:36pm, Elgin police officer arrived at the 600 block of Villa Street and found an adult male subject with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. The preliminary investigation showed the subject had sustained a gunshot wound during an altercation at the scene. Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are actively investigating the incident. A Naperville woman has been charged with using her 9- and 5-year-old daughters to steal more than 200 items from a retail store at Yorktown Mall. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Tom Wirsing announced Friday that the 36-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (Class 1 Felony), one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony). A 55-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to intentionally setting fire to a previous residence. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced this week that Victor Alvarez has agreed to a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of residential arson, a Class 1 felony. After a lengthy investigation, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser has exonerated two Aurora police officers in an officer-involved shooting that took place in Aurora on February 5 of last year. The investigation found no wrongdoing on the part of any member of the Aurora Police Department during the incident. A 27-year-old Elgin man was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilt of repeatedly sexually assaulting a Streamwood middle school studemt. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announces that Judge Barsanti has sentenced Magdiel Perez to eight years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
