Stockholm’s Restaurant and Brewery, a staple of Geneva’s State Street corridor, will be temporarily shut down after being hit by a fire Wednesday evening. According to a message on the Stockholm’s Facebook page, at about 9pm Wednesday evening staff was informed by a nearby restaurant that smoke was billowing from it exhaust hood on top of the building. The Geneva Fire Department was called in and, with the assistance of other local departments, the fire was contained with no injuries reported. According the note on Facebook, “the damage is unfortunately rather extensive and Stockholm’s will be closed until further notice.”…

A woman is in hospital after suffering injuries during a gunfire incident in Elgin Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 1:47pm Tuesday, Elgin police officers responded to the 600 block of Raymond Street where they located an adult female victim who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. In what appears to be a case of parental abduction, two men and a woman are in custody in two states in connection with the abduction of an 8-year-old child from his Aurora home. According to Aurora police, on Monday evening at around 10:14pm, officers were summoned to the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive to investigate a report of a home invasion. The man who died after falling in a canyon at Starved Rock State Park over the weekend has been identified as  38-year-old Albert Cramer of Oswego. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Cramer died at around 4:30pm Saturday after a fall at Illinois Canyon, one of the 18 canyons in the park, which is located in LaSalle County. Preliminary results of an autopsy performed by the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office indicated that Cramer died of injuries sustained in the fall and there is no suggestion of foul play. The incident remains under investigation.

A 44-year-old Aurora man is dead after a multi-vehicle crash involving a rollover on Aurora’s far east side Wednesday evening. According to the Aurora Police Department, at around 8:40pm Wednesday evening, police and fire personnel were were dispatched to the intersection of E. New York Street and North Eola Road, where they found a crash involving four vehicles, one of which was rolled over.
