A man is dead and his passenger in critical, life-threatening condition after a head-on collision in Sugar Grove Friday evening. According to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 11:09 PM Friday, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of an accident with injuries in the area of Bliss Road at Seavey Road in Sugar Grove Township. Two armed men robbed a BMO Harris Bank in Naperville Wednesday morning, according to the FBI. Officials indicated that the FBI responded to a bank robbery at around 9:30 a.m. at the BMO Harris Bank found at 320 West Diehl Road. The preliminary investigation has determined that two men entered the bank brandishing weapons and demanded money, after which they fled the scene in a car. The suspects currently remain at-large. During a press conference this afternoon, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and St. Charles Chief of Police James Keegan announced that five individuals have been charged with multiple offenses related to human trafficking and sexual trafficking. Each of the suspects were charged with the following: One suspect was also charged with promoting prostitution for profit, Class 4 felony. “This investigation spanned several months and is the culmination of excellent work done by our investigators.” Chief Keegan said. “Everyone worked tirelessly on this case and sought justice for those without a voice. The National Weather Service confirms 13 tornados touched downed on July 12, 2023 across northeast Illinois, downing trees and damaging homes and other property. Two tornados impacted Kane County in a line stretching from Campton Hills to Elgin and Plato Center to Elgin (see maps below). Eight homes in the Edgewater subdivision of Elgin sustained significant damage that prevents them from being occupied. Eleven have damage requiring substantial repairs, but did not affect the dwellings’ structural integrity. Eight people were sent to hospital yesterday afternoon after a head-on collision in Elgin at the intersection of McLean Boulevard and Bowes Road. According to reports, one vehicle held 6 occupants while the other held 2. According to reports, the injuries were considered to be minor and non-life-threatening. The incident occurred at around 4pm Wednesday afternoon, and police are still investigating the circumstances involving the crash. No further details were available.

According to numerous reports, a former Sugar Grove Village President and current trustee has been arrested for allegedly forging a signature of a North Aurora village official on a certificate of occupancy. The accused was reportedly acting in his role as a project manager for McCue Builders, a construction company that was building a home in the Moose Lake Estates development in North Aurora, when he allegedly forged a certificate of occupancy for the home and presented it to the title company, thereby allowing the owner to move in despite a number of unresolved issues from village inspectors.
