On Halloween, 2022, 48-year-old Timothy A. Gordon cold-bloodedly shot and killed his estranged wife, 35-year-old Yajaira Gordon, in front of her mother, aunt, and two children. Yesterday, Gordon, a serial criminal with previous arrests for armed robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm, and other weapons-related offenses, pleaded guilty to the brutal murder and will now face a sentence of between 45 years and life in prison. The sentence includes a mandatory enhancement of between 25 years and life in prison because Gordon used a gun to commit the murder. Judge Clint Hull accepted the plea and set Gordon’s next court…

A 39-year-old woman from Blackberry Township just outside of Elburn has been charged with multiple DUI-related crimes after the car she was driving left the road and landed in a ditch late Saturday evening. Two children, ages 7 (from Elburn) and 8 (from Sugar Grove), were passengers in the vehicle when the accident occurred. A 32-year-old Algonquin man has been charged with mulitple counts of sexual assault, battery and unlawful restraint after allegedly holding his girlfriend at knifepoint for a period of several hours Saturday morning. At approximately 6:25am Saturday, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 400 block of Natoma Trail in Algonquin Township for the report of a domestic battery between boyfriend and girlfriend that had lasted several hours. Carpentersville knocked off defending champion St. Charles as the winner of the 2024 Drinking Water Taste Test for Kane County.  Three judges, including Kane County Board member Cliff Surges, sampled 27 glasses of unmarked water from nine municipalities. Geneva came in second and Sugar Grove and Aurora tied for third place, while other participating communities included West Dundee, Huntley, Montgomery, Batavia, and St. Charles. The annual event is organized by the Kane County Water Association, and Carpentersville’s water will advance to a larger contest during the American Water Works Association conference in the spring.

An Elgin police officer charged with child pornography earlier this month has resigned from the department, according to the City of Elgin.
