Robert E. Crimo III has been taken into custody near Lake Forest, IL, authorities said during a brief news conference just before 8 p.m. ET. Authorities said Crimo was spotted by a North Chicago officer who attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Crimo then fled and led officers on a brief pursuit before being stopped in Lake Forest, Illinois. He was taken into custody without incident and will be taken to the Highland Park police department. Batavia offers what it describes as “one of the most celebrated 4th of July fireworks productions in the western suburbs of Chicago, which we proudly call the “Sky Concert.”’ The program begins at 5pm at Engstrom Park with Savor-The-Flavor food and drink vendors, which remain open until 9:30pm. A body pulled from the river Sunday in Carpentersville has been identified by the Kane County Coroner. The body has been identified as Jesus Maldanado, the man who had been pronounced missing by the Carpentersville Police the day before. The cause of death is still being investigated. Last Saturday at approximately 4:45pm, the Carpentersville Police Department posted a missing person announcement on the Village of Carpentersville Public Safety Facebook page. As previously reported, Elgin has seen a wave of thefts of catalytic converters this year. Since we reported last, an addition 12 have been stolen over 11 days. Now, the Elgin Police Department is seeking to identify a suspect in at least some of these thefts. The Major Investigations Division is requesting assistance in identifying the subject and the vehicle in the photo below related to a burglary in which a catalytic converter was removed.
