According to the Aurora Police Department, a branch of Bank of America was robbed last night. It would appear that the robbery took place sometime before 7pm. The branch is located in the 2300 block of W. Indian Trail Road, at the corner of North Orchard Road and Indian Trail. The FBI, which has jurisdiction over bank robberies, was called in to investigate the crime. APD will support the FBI in the investigation. No further information is available at this time. We will update when more information becomes available.

The Illinois State Police will be conducting a wide range of enforcement patrols throughout Kane, DuPage, and Cook counties this weekend and throughout September. So drivers beware. Illinois State Police District 02 Commander, Linda Mandat, has announced that the state police will conduct Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP), colloquially known as seat-belt checks, in Kane County; Distracted Driving Enforcement Program patrols in DuPage and Kane; Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement and Nighttime Enforcement patrols in Cook and DuPage. Following the July 4 mass shooting in Highland Park where 6 people were killed and 30 injured by an obviously disturbed young man whose behavior seemed to scream for intervention, many Illinois citizens were outraged that authorities at seemingly all levels had failed to notice or take action to prevent the massacre. The North Aurora Police Department responded Saturday evening to a report of a large group of people fighting and the presence of a firearm in North Aurora Island Park. Four people are in custody after the incident and one handgun was confiscated. At 7:04 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to North Aurora Island Park, near State Street and the Fox River, for a fight in progress. While in route, officers were warned that someone in the melee might have a gun. When the officers arrived they found a group of people fighting with approximately 50 people present overall.
