A 24-year-old West Chicago woman was hospitalized in critical condition after being rescued from a submerged vehicle following a traffic accident along Bilter Road in Aurora. The crash happened around 7pm Monday evening on Bilter Road just west of DuPage Parkway. Details of the cause have not made available by Aurora police, but the incident resulted in one vehicle submerged in a pond north of Bilter, with the other vehicle coming to a rest after striking a tree, also north of Bilter. A St. Charles man is in custody for allegedly exposing himself to two pre-teen girls in Batavia Sunday afternoon. According to Batavia Police, a citizen reported that his pre-teen daughter, along with another female pre-teen, encountered an adult male near the playground area of H.C. Storm School located at 305 N. Van Nortwick Avenue at approximately 4:30 PM, Sunday. The male subject allegedly exposed himself to the girls, leading to a report to police approximately 30 minutes later. In February 2020, Francisco L. Manriquez sexually assaulted a woman who was unable to consent. He then battered a second woman, who was seven months pregnant, when she walked in and witnessed the sexual assault. In February 2023, a jury found Manriquez guilty of the offenses of: Yesterday, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced that Manriquez has been sentenced to 30 years in jail. A 66-year-old Maple Park man crashed his SUV into a Cortland home Saturday morning, according to a DeKalb Police Department press release. Witnesses told Cortland police officers that the SUV was traveling westbound on Cortland Center Road when it left the roadway and drove through the fence of a home at Clover Avenue and Pampas Street, exiting the area on the west side. The SUV then continued two full blocks south through multiple yards until it crashed into a house on Hummingbird Avenue. After having just absorbed a brutal storm system Friday evening, the Fox Valley region may be in for some additional rough weather this week. The National Weather Service in Chicago has announced that the potential exists for a significant storm to develop Tuesday that would affect northwest Illinois and the Fox Valley region.
