The Elgin Police Department reported that at approximately 2:42am this morning they responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival at the 600 block of Villa Street, evidence of a shooting and property damage were located. No injuries have been reported at this time. This is the 37th reported incident of shots fired in Elgin this year, keeping the city on pace to match or break it’s 2016 record of 64 for the full year. 37-year-old Chicago resident Bobby Heard agreed to a sentence of 25 years in jail in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of armed robbery with a firearm, Class X felony, in connection with the September 2016 attempted robbery of a Carpentersville business during which his accomplice was shot and killed. Kane County Judge John A. Barsanti accepted the plea. According to a Kane County State’s Attorney news release, a 35 year-old Elgin man has been charged with the strangulation of his wife, whose dead body was discovered by police Monday after her 4-year-old son was found wandering blocks from their Elgin home. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Wendy Ayllon, the release said. Ms. Ayllon was found dead in her home Monday evening after one of her four children was found wandering 5 blocks away.
