A 47-yer-old woman was accosted by a male assailant while running on the Fox River Trail in St. Charles Monday evening. According to a press release from the St. Charles Police Department, the victim was jogging along the Fox River Trail near the 300 block of S. Riverside Avenue, just south of the Illinois Street Bridge, as part of a group, but had fallen behind. She then heard someone quickly approaching from behind. (Photos from KCSO) Just after lunch on the 15th of February, 2019, a disgruntled former employee returned to the Henry Pratt facility at 641 Archer in Aurora and began an ordeal that ended the lives of 5 men, and permanently changed the lives of many others. Gary Montez Martin, 45, who had recently been fired from his position with the company, about two weeks earlier, opened fire on employees at the facility at around 1:24pm, killing 5 and injuring 7 in a 90-minute rampage that ended with his death at the hands of law enforcement. This morning, Aurora Chief of Police Keith Cross released bodycam tapes of an incident wherein an APD office shot and wounded a man allegedly charging him while brandishing knives. The wounded man has been charged with multiple felonies, while the shooting remains under investigation by the Kane County State’s Attorney and the Kane County Major Crime Task Force. Update: The Kane County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update: The Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives and Social Workers have been in contact with the families and are notifying the appropriate schools the students attend, in the event others may find themselves in need of additional support or counseling.
