A man is in hospital after having apparently been shot early Sunday morning, according to Elgin police. At 12:25 a.m. Sunday morning, Elgin police officers responded to the 500 block of E. Chicago Street for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male subject with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. This is the 7th confirmed shots fired incident in Elgin this year and the 13th in the last 90 days. A man suspected in the Valentine’s Day stabbing of an Aurora woman while in her vehicle has been arrested. According to police, on Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing victim located at the 300 block of Claim Street. As officers arrived on scene, they learned that a female was sitting in her vehicle when a male suspect approached her vehicle, opened the vehicle’s door, and stabbed the female in her leg and hand. Sunday marked the birthday of World War II veteran Ray Moore who was honored with his own holiday in the City of Aurora.   Born on February 12, 1923, in Aurora, Ray Moore celebrated his milestone 100th birthday with family, friends, and fans. Mayor Irvin issued a proclamation designating February 12 as ‘Ray Moore Day’ in his hometown. The declaration was presented to Mr. Moore during the celebration by Deputy Mayor Memo Trujillo.
