The City of Naperville has announced that Jason Arres, who currently serves as a deputy chief of the Naperville Police Department, has been named Naperville’s new police chief. The announcement was made following a three-month process involving a national search led by the public management consulting firm GovHR and multiple panel interviews involving City leaders, elected officials, police/union representatives, and community members. For the seventh time in seven days days, and the fourth time in three days, Elgin police have responded to reports of gunfire in the night. This time, the results were fatal for one victim. On Monday morning at 2:11 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of N. Jackson Street for a report of a shooting. Officers located three adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds who were immediately transported to area hospitals for treatment. One victim has since been pronounced deceased.
