UPDATE: St. Charles School District 303 has cancelled classes for Monday, following Geneva schools. The District 303 School Board has scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss the situation. In response to the ruling of a downstate judge declaring a temporary restraining order on Governor JB Pritzker’s mask mandate for schools, Geneva School District 304 announced this afternoon that it will be taking an “emergency day” to determine how to navigate the rather murky situation. [Editor’s note: This is an update to the story previously posted here.] Yesterday morning, 41 year-old Jeffrey Churchill and another individual were inside the garage of the apartment complex at 960 Fairway Drive in Naperville presumably getting ready for the day’s work. (Churchill was a maintenance worker at the complex.) A man was shot and killed Friday morning on Naperville’s northwest side. At approximately 8:30 a.m., Naperville Police Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 900 block of Fairway Drive for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding officers located the victim, who was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead. Officers quickly developed a lead on a possible suspect. Firefighters began demolition of what remains of the building overnight. “This will take some time to fully extinguish. On the morning of June 10, 2017, Rodolfo Rocha was outside a Grove Street home with friends and family. At some point that morning, 29 year-old Anthony Medina, and 27 year-old Martin Garcia, Jr., approached the gathering and told them to declare a gang affiliation. When they replied that they were not gang members, Medina and Garcia pulled out guns and shot Rocha, killing him. During the incident Medina shot Garcia in the abdomen, and struck Rocha’s car.
