Two men are in custody for Wednesday’s shooting incident in Elgin which resulted in two men being hospitalized for their wounds.
The shooting occurred Wednesday evening in the 0-100 block of Hill Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located two subjects with injuries who were subsequently transported to area hospitals.
A vehicle that was seen leaving the scene was located moments after the shooting. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop, and several subjects were taken into custody as evidence was located that connected the occupants of the vehicle to the shooting.
Detectives from the Special Investigations and Major Investigations Divisions responded to the scene and learned that that the individuals involved in this incident were known to each other and that the shooting stemmed from a previous encounter. One victim has since been released from the hospital and the other remains hospitalized.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized criminal charges.
A 22 year-old man from the 3000 block of W. 78th Street, Chicago, was charged with:
- Attempt Murder (2 counts)
- Aggravated Battery/Discharge of Firearm (2 counts)
- Home Invasion
- Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon
- Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding
An 18 year-old man from the 15000 block of Briar Lane, Oak Forest, was charged with:
- Attempt Murder (2 counts)
- Aggravated Battery/Discharge of Firearm (2 counts)
- Home Invasion
- Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon
- Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding
In a statement, Elgin Chief of Police Ana Lalley praised the efficient work of her officers.
“The quick actions of our patrol officers coupled with the tireless work by our Detectives resulted in a quick arrest,” she stated. “These arrests are a direct result of the incredible professionalism, teamwork, skills, and knowledge displayed by the members of the department that ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
Bond was set at $1 million for each man, with $100,000 to apply for bond. Both men
