A 33-year-old Minnesota man is in custody after a traffic stop by a Kane County Sheriff’s deputy resulted in the discovery of a wide assortment of illicit drugs on his person and in his vehicle.
According to prosecutors, on Tuesday the defendant was pulled over by a Kane County Sheriff’s deputy for a traffic violation. A subsequent investigation of his person and vehicle resulted in officers finding psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, and fentanyl in his possession.
The defendant, a resident of Duluth, Minnesota, has been charged by Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser with the offenses of Unlawful Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver, 15-100 grams, a Class X felony; Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamines with Intent to Deliver, 15-100 grams, a Class X felony; Unlawful Possession of Cocaine, 15-100 grams, a Class 1 felony; Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamines, 15-100 grams, a Class 1 felony; Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Deliver, a Class 2 felony; Unlawful Possession of Psilocybin with Intent to Deliver, a Class 2 felony; Unlawful Possession of MDMA with Intent to Deliver, a Class 3 felony; and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class 4 felony (3 counts).
On Wednesday, the defendant was brought to court for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the court ordered him detained in the Kane County Jail while his case is pending. His next court date is set for next Thursday at 9am in Courtroom 313 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
