Heritage Week will culminate with the 54th Aurora Puerto Rican Heritage Festival, one of Aurora’s longest-running cultural celebrations.
The festival, which will take place at Wilder Park in Aurora, will offer a full day of live music, dancing, Puerto Rican food, local vendors, cultural experiences, children’s activities and community pride. The opening ceremony begins at 12:30pm.
The stage schedule includes Tony y Sus Campesinos at 1:00pm, Impacto Boricua at 2:00pm, Bompleneras at 3:15pm, Algarii at 4:00pm, Music In Motion at 4:45pm and Chicago Latin Groove at 6:00pm.
At 7:30pm, Jhonny Velez and El Combo de John del Piano will present a high-energy tribute to merengue superstar Elvis Crespo.
DJ Tito Latino and MC Goyco of Radio Ritmo Mix will keep the music and celebration moving throughout the day.
Guests can enjoy Puerto Rican flavors and festival favorites in the food court, shop for arts, crafts, apparel, jewelry, handmade goods and cultural items, and visit participating community organizations. Family-friendly activities will also be available in the kid’s area.
The festival will include a designated beer garden for guests ages 21 and older. Valid identification is required.
Free parking will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Outside food, beverages and coolers are not permitted.
The festival will take place rain or shine.
