Aurora police are investigating a shooting on the city’s East side Friday afternoon, the second such shooting incident of the day.
The two incidents are not considered linked at this time.
At approximately 3:44pm on Friday, Aurora Police officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim in the 1100 block of Bonner Avenue, where they located a 45-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound inside a residence. Officers immediately rendered aid, including the application of a tourniquet, until Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Initial information indicates he may have been injured during a shooting incident that occurred in the surrounding neighborhood before seeking help at a nearby residence, where officers ultimately located him.
Detectives continue to canvass the neighborhood and review surveillance footage as the investigation remains ongoing. At this time, no suspects are in custody.
Based on the preliminary investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no known ongoing threat to the general public.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500.
