According to the Aurora Fire Department, approximately 30 gallons of concentrated bleach was accidently spilled on Aurora’s northeast side this morning.
At around 10:25am, firefighters responded to a hazardous materials incident in the 2700 block of Beverly Drive involving a punctured container of concentrated bleach inside a semi-trailer.
Approximately 30 gallons leaked, with some entering nearby storm drains. Fire crews quickly contained the spill and recovered the material from catch basins. The container has been secured and is no longer leaking. There is no danger to the public.
A private contractor is currently assisting with cleanup, which is expected to be completed by approximately 4:00pm. Aurora Police are on scene supporting traffic control.
No information on how the semi-trailer was punctured is available at this time.
