A 35-year-old Chicago man has been denied pre-trial release after he was arrested last week when Naperville police found a loaded Glock 45 in his vehicle outside of a Naperville bowling alley.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced that Judge Joshua Dieden has granted the State’s motion to detain pre-trial the suspect, a convicted felon, charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender (a Class X Felony) and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon – Prior Conviction (a Class 2 Felony).
On Fridaty, at approximately 9:06pm, Naperville police officers on routine patrol at the Lucky Strike Naperville, located at 1515 Aurora Avenue, allegedly observed a silver firearm protruding from underneath the driver’s seat of a black Mercedes SUV in the parking lot. At 11:36pm, officers observed the suspect exit the bowling alley, walk towards the Mercedes and enter the driver’s seat. Officers then approached the Mercedes and, once the suspect had exited the vehicle, found a loaded Glock 45 handgun with one bullet in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine, with approximately ten extra rounds protruding from under the driver’s seat. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
“The law is very clear, as a convicted felon, the suspect is prohibited from legally owning a firearm,” Berlin said. “What I find particularly disturbing in this case is the allegation that the suspect was in possession of a loaded firearm at a family-friendly recreation facility during an extremely busy holiday weekend. Public safety remains the top priority of my administration and anyone accused of threatening public safety in DuPage County will quickly find themselves arrested, charged and prosecuted.”
The suspect’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 18, 2025, in front of Judge Mia McPherson.
