A US Bank facility on the east side of St. Charles was robbed by an armed offender Saturday around noon, according to a release by the St. Charles Police Department.

According to the release, at approximately 12:05pm Saturday, officers responded to the US Bank, located at 135 Smith Road, for a report of an armed robbery which had just occurred. Officers were quickly on-scene and learned the offender was last seen leaving the bank on foot. A thorough search of the area was conducted, but the offender was not located.

No information as to the amount stolen has been released.

Representatives from the FBI were immediately notified and, as per protocol for all bank robberies in the United States, they have taken over the investigation.
