[Editor’s Note: As a matter of policy, Fox Valley Magazine does not publish the name or likeness of suspects in criminal cases, based on the injustice of the accused, who remains innocent until convicted, being publicly smeared before being able to provide a proper defense. In this instance, the public’s awareness of the charges and circumstances thereof, including the identity of the accused, warrant an exemption from this policy. But the reader should be aware that the suspect has only been accused at this point. He remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.]

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office today issued a public request seeking to identify potential victims of 43-year-old chiropractor David Hanson, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia. Hanson was charged today with Producing Child Pornography, a Class X felony (5 counts); Disseminating Child Pornography, a Class X felony (3 counts); Possessing Child Pornography, a Class 2 felony (6 counts); and Unauthorized Video Recording of a Minor Through/Under the Clothes, a Class 3 felony (3 counts).

The KCSAO alleges that Hanson secretly videotaped over 180 of his patients as they undressed or were unclothed. The victim ages range from young children to adults, and were mostly female. Many of the recordings appear to be taken from a red light room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy. Hanson allegedly made the video recordings using hidden cameras secretly placed throughout his chiropractic office.

According to prosecutors, Hanson was also found to be possessing and disseminating multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material that were unrelated to his chiropractic practice.

If you believe you and/or your minor dependent(s) were victimized by Hanson, or have any additional information that law enforcement should be aware of, please call (630) 444-3322 or email SAOVictimHotline@KaneCountyIL.gov

Hanson’s home and his chiropractic office, located at 1928 West Wilson Street in Batavia, were searched Wednesday pursuant to a judicial warrant, which led to his immediate arrest. He was brought to court today for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the KCSAO argued for his detention. The Court granted the petition, finding Hanson to be a real and present threat to the community, and ordered him detained while his case is pending. Hanson’s next court date is set for November 10, 2025 at 9:00am in Courtroom 305 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
