La Fiesta de Elgin is back for its third year. Join us for a vibrant celebration of Mexican Independence Day on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, in the heart of Downtown Elgin.
Get ready for a day full of music, food, culture, and community pride. The festivities kick off Saturday morning with a lively morning parade, followed by a Mercado on Riverside Dr. featuring local vendors, delicious eats, and live entertainment. The excitement continues with an evening celebration you will not want to miss.

The parade starts at 9 a.m. at Slade and Douglas avenues and ends at Douglas and Highland avenues, near city hall. Vehicle and float staging is at the old Sherman lot, 901 Center St. Vehicles or floats only—no walkers.

We are turning up the energy with a special La Fiesta de Elgin Mercado. Stroll through a vibrant market featuring Latino-owned businesses, live music, a car show and family-friendly activities for all ages. From delicious eats to one-of-kind retail finds, there is something for everyone.

Get ready for a vibrant night of culture, music art, and fun as Mexico comes to Festival Park! A stunning, large-scale Angel of Independence will welcome guests at the center sidewalk, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. Additional vibrant art installations will make their return celebrating Mexican heritage. There will be plenty of fun and interaction for kids, including our Illuminate Elgin interactive light board and our piñata smash. Savor authentic Mexican food, sip on ice-cold micheladas, or cold down with a refreshing paleta. Plenty of local and popular food vendors will be joining us in the celebration.

Dance the night away with live performances by, Los Yaguarú, Estilo Al Norte, Sonora Dinamita, and Banda Los Sebastianes. DJ Eddy P will be emceeing and spinning tunes between sets. A full schedule of performances will be announced soon.

El Grito and Fireworks: El Grito- the traditional call for independence- will be a powerful moment of unity and pride as we honor the spirit of Mexican heritage. Then, we will light up the sky with a spectacular fireworks show to welcome the headliner who will close out the night!
