Update: According to Aurora police, the suspect in Sunday morning’s shooting turned himself in at the Aurora Police Station with family members at approximately 3:00am today.

The suspect was taken into custody and has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (two counts); Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (two counts); Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Repeat Felony Offender (one count); and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon (one count).

The suspect’s first court appearance will be tomorrow at the DuPage County Court House.

Two men are in hospital, one in critical condition, after being shot on Aurora’s east side Sunday morning.

At approximately 6:08am Sunday, Aurora Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Station Boulevard where they found two male victims near the basketball court, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported the victims to local hospitals for treatment. A 19-year-old male victim was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, and a 20-year-old male victim remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation indicated that this was an isolated incident between known acquaintances. A firearm was recovered at the scene and there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to the public. The suspect fled the scene, and law enforcement is actively searching for him.

Aurora police are seeking 24-year-old Aaron Conley of Aurora in connection with the shooting. Conley is described as a black male with short dreadlocks, brown eyes, 6’01” tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing. If Conley is located in the community, the public is advised not to approach him and to contact APD immediately via 9-1-1 or 630-256-5000.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000 or via their website at www.p3tips.com/135. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of felony offenders or the capture of felony fugitives.
