Aurora’s The Venue will bring Summer Jam back to Mundy Park on Friday, July 25. The ticketed outdoor concert will once again feature Peach Jam and Cream Puff Warriors.
Summer Jam celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen which took place on July 28, 1973 at the New York racetrack and brought together Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Band.
The original Summer Jam broke records with its crowd of 600,000. “It was bigger than Woodstock,” said Sean Briskey, one of two lead guitarists in Peach Jam, a Chicago-based Allman Brothers tribute band.
“It was a huge event in rock history,” Packy Lundholm of Cream Puff Warriors said of the original Summer Jam. Lundholm, a guitarist in the band, added that each Grateful Dead song has “the opportunity to be different. There are infinite possibilities,” he said.
Peach Jam will bring the music of The Allman Brothers Band. The Cream Puff Warriors will bring the music of The Grateful Dead. To start the evening, both bands will collaborate on a tribute to The Band. Special guest Tipping will also be performing throughout the evening as an “Artist at large.”
Tickets are on sale now on Eventbrite for $30. Tickets are $35 at the door. The event is rain or shine and includes local food trucks and artisan vendors. The event starts at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.

This show is General Admission only, with open outdoor seating. This concert will be held outdoors – rain or shine, regardless of the weather. Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own blankets and/or folding bagged chairs. Rental Chairs will be available for purchase ($5) and a dance area near the stage is accessible to all if you do not wish to sit. Depending on the forecast, rain gear and umbrellas are also encouraged. Guests are allowed to bring in their own food and water, but no coolers or outside alcohol is permitted. Restaurants and food trucks are located nearby, and a full bar offering cocktails and N/A drinks will be available on-site at The Venue.
