A house fire in Oswego Township early Sunday morning claimed the life of one inhabitant and a pet, according to the Oswego Fire Protection District.
According to a press release, at approximately 6:27am Sunday, firefighters were called to a residence in the 30 block of Fernwood Road in unincorporated Oswego Township to investigate outside smoke. Upon arriving , they discovered a structural fire and immediately ordered a General Alarm.
While firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack to bring the fire under control, searches of the residence resulted in the identification of a deceased resident along with a deceased pet.
The fire was ultimately knocked down and firefighters remained to ensure complete extinguishment.
No injuries to firefighters were reported. The residence sustained significant damage and was deemed uninhabitable.
