Kane County Emergency Communications (KaneComm) Telecommunicator Kezia Moore was recognized by the Pingree Grove Fire Protection District for her life-saving actions during a critical incident in August 2024.

Moore answered a 911 call reporting a woman who was unresponsive and not breathing. She immediately provided CPR instructions over the phone until Pingree Grove police and fire personnel arrived on the scene. Thanks to her guidance and the quick response of the caller—who was also the patient’s husband—the woman made a full recovery and attended the award ceremony in person. Moore had the opportunity to meet the patient and her husband during the event.

“It’s not often that we get to meet our callers and see the difference our telecommunicators make every day,” said KaneComm Executive Director Michelle Guthrie. “We know they make a difference every day, but it’s exciting when we can celebrate a successful outcome.”

Moore has served as a telecommunicator with KaneComm for over five years. KaneComm is the county’s multi-jurisdictional 911 dispatch center, supporting law enforcement, fire, and medical agencies across Kane County.

About KaneComm
Kane County Emergency Communications (KaneComm) is a 24/7 public safety dispatch center responsible for deploying police, fire, and medical units across multiple jurisdictions. KaneComm serves one county sheriff’s office, nine police departments, and seven fire departments. As a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), it fields both emergency and non-emergency calls from residents throughout the county.

Telecommunicators at KaneComm must rapidly assess incoming calls, determine incident nature and location, and dispatch appropriate units while maintaining communication with responding personnel. They operate complex communications systems, monitor multiple radio frequencies, and manage databases related to missing persons, warrants, orders of protection, stolen property, and more.

In 2024, KaneComm answered more than 89,000 calls.
