Wine selections available at local wine stores and wineries in the Fox Valley area.

Avery Mae
Made with black raspberries from the renowned Lakeview Berry Farm in Wisconsin and the tart depth of black currants, this mead is elevated with Madagascar vanilla beans and the delicate sweetness of Pacific Northwest Meadowfoam honey. Aged on French oak, the final product is a harmonious blend of fruit-forward flavors, warm vanilla, and subtle woody complexity.

The use of Meadowfoam honey adds a unique marshmallow and caramel nuance that complements the bold berries and velvety vanilla.

Colinas de Sao Lourenco, ‘Calcario3 do Principal’

Bairrada, Portugual, 2012 – $24.99

Tasting Notes: Ruby with an opaque centre. Aroma of black fruit, cedar, leather and graphite. Full-bodied, with firm tannins but polished edges. Vibrant acidity that remains throughout the tasting. Very long and mineral finish. Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. This “Super Portuguese” wine blends an international style with the distinctive depth that characterizes Portuguese wine.

Winemaking: Winemaker Pascal Chatonnet, originally from France, is one of the most respected experts of the world in the art of using oak barrels for aging wine. Along with the experience and leadership of Carlos Dias and Costodio Dias, it is clear that this operation is run by some of the most highly respected professionals in the international wine-world. The wine is aged for 24 to 30 months in used 225 litre French oak barrels. It ages for a further 6 years in the bottle before being released onto the market.

“Produced from dry farmed limestone soil, this wine comes from the Quinta Colinas de São Lourenço. A richly structured wine with spice and leather aromas, it is mature while also showing bold black fruits. Drink this dense wine now. “— Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
