Chicago Man Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assaulting Patient At Geneva’s Marklund Home

A 24-year-old Chicago man pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting a disabled woman at Marklund Home in Geneva in 2023.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announces that Isaiah Fields has pleaded guilty to the offense of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony. Judge John A. Barsanti accepted the plea and set Fields’ next court appearance for March 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 319 at the Kane County Judicial Center for sentencing.

Prospecutors asserted that on or about August 1, 2023 through September 5, 2023, Fields sexually assaulted the victim, who he knew had a severe or profound intellectual disability and was unable to give consent. The victim was a resident of Marklund Home in Geneva.

It was discovered in April of 2024 that the victim was nearly fully pregnant, and the victim later gave birth. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation that involved securing multiple buccal swab DNA tests from current and previous male employees. After Fields’ DNA test came back positive, the Sheriff secured a sealed order for his arrest.

Fields faces a non-probationable six to 30 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In a second, unrelated case,  Fields agreed to a sentence of one year of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of criminal sexual abuse, Class 4 felony. Judge John A. Barsanti accepted the plea.

Fields’ sentence in in the second case will run consecutively to the sentence handed down in the Marklund Home case at the March 14 sentencing hearing. In addition to the prison term, Fields must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Fields remains in custody at the Kane County jail.

“Mr. Fields preyed on vulnerable individuals who were unable to defend themselves, and his actions are unconscionable,” Mosser commented. “With today’s guilty pleas, he is being held accountable for the profound harm he caused.”
