A 37-year-old Naperville woman has been charged with Reckless Homicide and related offenses in connection with a May 1st traffic crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old motorcycle passenger, Nicole Ross.

According to prosecutors, at around 5:02pm on Wednesday, May 1, a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban driven by the defendant was traveling eastbound on Butterfield Road and attempted to make a U-turn in the roadway. While turning, a 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on Butterfield Road was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The collision resulted in the driver of the motorcycle, a 30-year-old male from Batavia, being ejected from the motorcycle and coming to rest off the roadway. Ms. Ross was ejected into the westbound lanes of Butterfield Road, where she was struck by a westbound vehicle. Both were transported to a local hospital by Aurora Fire Department paramedics for treatment.

Ms. Ross succumbed to her injuries the following day.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced Friday that the defendant has been charged with Reckless Homicide, Aggravated Reckless Driving, Failure to Signal When Required, Improper Lane Usage and Improper U-Turn on Roadway.

The defendant was taken into custody on October 2. The following day she was released following a pretrial release hearing.
