Illinois State Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting yesterday evening on the southeast side of Aurora.

According to a press release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, just before 6:45pm Friday evening deputies with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Plano Police Department with a report of shots fired in the 3800 block of Pratt Street in Plano.

Police subsequently located a car believed to be associated with the incident in the area, leading to a pursuit that ended in the area of Route 34 and Eola Road in Aurora. Deputies and officers from multiple law enforcement agencies encountered an armed subject and, facing what the release indicated was a lethal threat, “engaged the subject to protect the public and themselves.”

According to reports, the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No law enforcement officers were injured. There is no known specific ongoing threat to the community, according to the release.

The investigation involving the officer-involved shooting is being conducted by the Illinois State Police .
