A 20-year-old Lisle woman was hospitalized and her dog killed after the vehicle she was driving ran into a tree on South Naper Boulevard early Saturday morning.

At approximately 3:46am Saturday, Naperville Police Department and Naperville Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the intersection of South Naper Boulevard and Culpepper Drive where officers found that a 2021 blue Kia Forte had left the roadway and struck a tree. Trapped inside the Kia was the driver, a 20-year-old female from Lisle.

The driver was eventually freed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with significant injuries. A small dog was located inside the Kia and transported to a local emergency veterinarian hospital, where it succumbed to its injuries.

Due to the nature of the crash, traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene, closing the roadway for nearly 5 hours.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.
