A 49-year-old Aurora man has been charged in the killing of his domestic partner in January.
On January 13th, Aurora police officers responded to a single vehicle crash and shots fired near Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue. Auroran Serhonda Burnett, 46, was the sole occupant in the crashed vehicle, and was suffering from gunshot wounds when police arrived.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
An investigation by Aurora police detectives determined that Burnett’s domesic partner, the subject, was responsible for her death, and he has been charged with First Degree Murder (4 counts); Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X felony); and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class 2 felony).
A warrant for the subject’s arrest was obtained on February 21 and he was taken into custody on March 6 in Orlando, Florida. He is currently being held in the Kane County Jail.
