A Montgomery man has been sentenced to two consecutive 8-year terms in prison after he confessed to police that he had sexually assaulted to young relatives of his.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced yesterday that Maxwell Jordan was sentenced to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and one count of Aggravate Criminal Sexual Assault by Judge Jody Gleason at a sentencing hearing last month. Jordan had entered a plea of guilty to both counts early this year.
Jordan was charged after an investigation by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office that began in late 2022, when Jordan voluntarily and unexpectedly came to the Sheriff’s Office and confessed to sexually assaulting two minor children. It was learned that these two minors were relatives of Jordan, and he had started abusing them when he was still a minor. Investigators conducted interviews of the victims with the assistance of the Kendall County Child Advocacy Center. Jordan was quickly charged and has remained in custody.
After the contested sentencing hearing, Jordan was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on each count, to be served consecutively with each other, for a total of 16 years in prison. After he completes his prison sentence, Jordan will then be on a mandatory supervised release term of 3 years to the rest of his life. Based on the nature of the offenses, Jordan will be mandated to serve 85% of his 16-year prison sentence and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Additionally, Jordan will be subject to a sexually violent/dangerous person evaluation prior to any release from custody. Defendants can be civilly committed by the Attorney General’s Office after their prison sentence is completed.
