Snow will be replaced by high winds and bitter cold in the Fox Valley Saturday. Pick your poison.
Accumulated snowfall from Friday’s storm was fairly consistent across the region at 6″-7″, bringing the weekly total to around a foot in most places. But what comes next may be more challenging, as a deep freeze commences Saturday accompanied by blowing snow driven by 20-30 miles-per-hour wind.
Conditions are expected to be blizzard-like over the next several days as high winds and blowing snow create visibility issues and wind chills as low as 30 degrees below zero. Highs will be in the single digits and lows will be sub-zero (single digits) for the next several days.
A slight warm-up is expected Wednesday, but temperatures will remain below normal for the remainder of the week,
At these wind chill levels, frostbite can set in in as quickly as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Bundle up!
