The St. Charles Business Alliance, which hosts the popular Electric Christmas Parade in downtown St. Charles over the Thanksgiving weekend, has announced its Grand Marshal for the parade. It’s a museum.

The St. Charles History Museum will be the Grand Marshal for the annual parade, in honor of the celebration of the museum’s 90th anniversary. The parade will take place on Saturday, November 25th in downtown St. Charles. The Electric Christmas Parade is part of the St. Charles Holiday Homecoming Celebration, which is a two-day event that begins on Friday, November 24th with the Lighting of the Lights Ceremony.

The St. Charles History Museum is a non-profit organization that is located in the 1928 McCornack Oil Company building downtown. It is home to both permanent and temporary exhibits highlighting information about the city’s past, as well as the Curious Fox Gift Shop. Currently, to highlight this 90th year milestone, is has a new exhibit “(Almost) Another Century of Progress: St. Charles and the 1933 World’s Fair” that is open through the end of the year. This exhibit showcases St. Charles’ involvement with the 1933 World’s Fair while simultaneously celebrating the town’s own centennial.

St. Charles History Museum President, Steve Gibson, spoke for the museum. “The St. Charles History Museum is honored to be chosen as Grand Marshal for the 2023 Electric Christmas Parade,” said Gibson. “As we celebrate 90 years of serving this community, we’re proud to continue our mission of collecting, preserving, and presenting the history of St. Charles. The support of this community is so important to the museum, and we can’t thank you enough for all you do to make us successful.”

For individuals looking to support the St. Charles History Museum, they will be having their Holiday Gala Fundraiser at the St. Charles Country Club on December 8th. This event is open to the public, and they are now accepting dinner reservations. Reservations for this fundraiser can be made at www.stcmuseum.org/events/2023/12/08/holidaygala2023. Seating for this event is limited.
