Aurora Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run Incident Wednesday

A 69-year-old women is dead after falling victim to a hit-and-run driver on Aurora’s West Side early Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, the woman, identified as Annie Kpa, of the 2000 block of Lilac Lane in Aurora, was walking in the roadway on Galena Boulevard west of Barnes Road in the early morning hours when she was struck by a vehicle who then left the scene.

When Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire Department personnel arrived at around 1:56am, they found the woman suffering from serious injuries. She was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene.

The intersection of Galena Boulevard and Barnes Road remained closed for several hours, while traffic investigators reconstructed the accident.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office took possession of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The crash remains under investigation by APD’s Traffic Division.
