Two South Elgin High School student are dead after the car they were riding in collided with a semi-tractor trailer early this morning.
At approximately 7:00am this morning, Bartlett Police Department and the South Elgin Fire Protection District responded to the intersection of IL Route 25 and Keynon Road to investigate a motor vehicle crash involving a 2007 Mack semi-tractor trailer and a 2002 Honda Civic that was occupied by four South Elgin High School students.
One female passenger in the Honda Civic was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another succumbed to her injuries after bring transported to an area hospital.
The male driver of the Mack semi-tractor trailer and the female driver of the Honda Civic suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
The names of the individuals involved in the accident are being withheld pending notification of kin.
According to a report from the Village of Barlett, School District U-46 Crisis Team has been activated at South Elgin High School. The Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team (MERIT) is assisting Bartlett Police Department with the investigation.
IL Route 25 is closed between West Bartlett Road and Graham Road.
