Popular Mexican restaurant Sergio’s Cantina, located at 30 West State Street, has announced that it will shut its doors in September. It’s associated upstairs bar, 1910 Geneva, will also close.

The restaurant, owned by Sergio and Lindsey De Los Santos, has been a fixture on Geneva’s State Street for almost 16 years.

In a farewall announcement posted on Facebook, the reason given for the closure was the pursuit of a “new business chapter.”

“It has been our family’s dream to open a family-friendly restaurant and share our authentic family recipes with you since we first opened our doors in November of 2007,” according to the post. “We’re grateful for all the support we have received from our community all these years, and for being a special place so many have shared memories.”

The post indicated that the closure will happen “within the next two weeks.”
