(Defunct Pheasant Run Resort on fire during May 2022 incident.)
St. Charles firefighters were called to the former Pheasant Run Resort Saturday evening to extinguish a fire in one the buildings there.
At 7:22pm on Saturday, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a building located on the grounds of Pheasant Run Resort at 4051 East Main Street. The first unit arrived on scene five minutes later and reported an active fire on the second floor. The fire was extinguished by the first on-scene fire companies within 15 minutes of their arrival.
The building was searched which confirmed there were no occupants.
The firefighters completed extinguishment, checked for any fire extension, and performed overhaul operations. The damage to property and contents is still under investigation. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
In May 2022, the dormant facility suffered an extensive fire during which the main lobby of the resort was destroyed, as were Bourbon Street, and three full wings of hotel rooms. A subsequent investigation by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Office of the State Fire Marshall, in concert with the St. Charles Police Department and the St. Charles Fire Department, determined that two male juveniles started the three-alarm fire while trespassing at the site. Two additional male juveniles were also charged with trespassing.
