A nine-year-old child on bicycle was struck by a pickup truck and hospitalized with serious injuries on Aurora’s far east side Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 5:44pm, Aurora police officers were called to the area of East New York Street and Kautz Road, where they determined that the driver of a 2022 Chevy truck was traveling westbound on East New York Street and struck a nine-year-old bicyclist traveling southbound on Kautz Road.

The child was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries.

Members of the Aurora Emergency Management Agency assisted with road closures while the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by APD’s Traffic Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at 630-256-5330.
