According to numerous reports, a former Sugar Grove Village President and current trustee has been arrested for allegedly forging a signature of a North Aurora village official on a certificate of occupancy.

The accused was reportedly acting in his role as a project manager for McCue Builders, a construction company that was building a home in the Moose Lake Estates development in North Aurora, when he allegedly forged a certificate of occupancy for the home and presented it to the title company, thereby allowing the owner to move in despite a number of unresolved issues from village inspectors.

The forgery was brought to light when the homeowner applied to the village for a pool permit shortly after moving in. Officials contacted the title company, who informed them that the forged certificate of occupancy had been provided via email from an address at McCue.

According to reports, police contacted McCue, who informed them that the accused was solely responsible for occupancy permits for new homes.

The village contacted the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office, and a warrant for the arrest of the accused was executed. The accused was arrested and released on his own recognizance.
