An Aurora man who pleaded guilty of sexually assaulting a young child in 2022 has agreed to a sentence of 15 years in prison in return for his plea.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced yesterday that Jose A. Jimenez has agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, Class X felony.

Judge Alice C. Tracy accepted the plea.

Prosecutors demonstrated that Jimenez, 38, sexually assaulted the child during the period January-March 2022. Jimenez knew the child, who was younger than 12 years old.

“This victim disclosed the abuse to a school social worker, who swiftly contacted authorities,” said Assistant State’s Attorney Stacey Whitman. “My thanks to the social worker and the victim’s family members who supported her throughout this ordeal. I’m grateful to the victim for her courage throughout this prosecution and for trusting us to ensure she gets justice.”

In addition to the prison term, Jimenez must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Jimenez must serve at least 85% of the sentence. Jimenez receives credit for 394 days served in the Kane County jail.
