The troubled history of Illinois’ mental health facilities allegedly added another page with the arrest of a caregiver at the Elgin Mental Health Center Monday.
The Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation announced Monday the arrest of a 38-year-old Calumet City woman for Abuse or Neglect of a Long-Term Care Facility Resident (Class 3 Felony), Official Misconduct (Class 3 Felony), and Battery (Class A Misdemeanor).
On May 3, 2023 ISP DII initiated an investigation on a contractual Certified Nursing Assistant, the accused, after receiving allegations of resident abuse and battery that occurred at the Elgin Mental Health Center on April 30, 2023.
On Fridy, after an extensive investigation, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against the woman, with a bond set at $10,000, 10% to apply. On Monday, she turned herself in to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office. She was processed, posted bond, and released awaiting her next court date.
This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.
