Naperville police are investigating what they term a “targeted” attack on a Naperville west side man early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, Naperville Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of west Jefferson to a report of a fight in progress as well as shots fired. Responding officers located a victim who had been injured from being battered and found no one that had been struck by gunfire. The alleged offenders had fled the area in an unknown vehicle prior to police arrival.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim of the battery had been involved in some type of dispute prior to this incident and was targeted as a result. Upon arriving at his residence, he was confronted by multiple people who battered him. A shot was fired, but the intent of the gunfire is currently unclear. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is currently under investigation, and there is no additional information that can be provided as of now.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department through Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006.
