Aurora police are searching for a man in connection with a shooting Wednesday afternoon onn the city’s Near East side.
At 4:53PM Wednesday, APD Telecom dispatched officers to the 700-800 block of Fifth Street after receiving several 9-1-1 calls for shots fired in the area. Officers located evidence of a shooting and began speaking with witnesses.
A vehicle parked in the area occupied by several people had been struck by gunfire, causing a vehicle window to shatter. One of the vehicle occupants sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. AFD Medics treated the person for the minor injuries on scene.
Witnesses reported that after the shooting, a male was observed running with a firearm in his hand and was last seen entering a multi-family residence in the area. Additional officers arrived on scene and surrounded the residence to contain the man. Once the occupants of the residence safely exited, officers searched inside but did not locate him.
