Over 20 years ago Sam Mashal started his company called Midwest Detail & Powerwash. While originally coming up with an idea to power wash semi-trucks, and detail cars, after a few years in business Sam wound up power washing and staining a deck for one of his friends, which ended up changing his business model. He loved the idea of working with individual homeowners on backyard projects.
As he progressed, he got in touch with local stain vendors, learned the process by meeting with vendor reps as he educated himself on how to stain decks, and eventually added patio sealing to the equation a year down the road. He wanted to ensure he could give his customers the best process, the right process, and most of all the best service at a fair price.
As time went on, Sam spent the years building his business around the Fox Valley area. Through his experience, he is able to provide a very hands-on, detailed description to his customers about the right process to be used when staining their deck or sealing their patios.
When asking Sam what sets his company apart from other companies that may offer these services, Sam said he feels that since deck staining and patio sealing are the only two areas his company works in, it allows him to give the customer a great experience, with a professional that deals with either service on a daily basis. As far as being in business for over 20 years, when Sam is asked what helped him continue to stay in business that long, and he said customer service goes a long way. “Answer your customers phone calls, show up when you say you are going to show up, and make sure you are upfront and honest about your process. It’s the little things that people appreciate!”
