Update: After a nightlong investigation, the Elgin Police Department has determined that this incident was a domestic related matter in which a firearm was discharged. All parties involved have been safely safely located. A male adult subject has been taken into custody.
Elgin police are investigating a curious incident in the early hours of this morning involving a crying woman, shots fired and a woman being “placed” into car by the alleged shooters.
At 1:52 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the 300 block of Kenneth Circle for several reports of shots fired and also what appeared to be a female subject crying in the area.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a female Hispanic subject was walking in the area and possibly crying just prior to a four-door, black Honda being observed in the area where shots were being reported.
The vehicle was occupied by at least two subjects. The driver and passenger exited the vehicle, after which shots were heard. Witnesses also reported the passenger placing a female Hispanic subject in the vehicle. The vehicle was then observed leaving the area westbound on Summit Street.
The driver of the vehicle is described as being a male Hispanic, late twenties to early thirties in age, with a stocky build wearing a white shirt and unknown color shorts. The passenger of the vehicle is described as a male Hispanic, late twenties to early thirties in age, wearing a black sweatshirt.
There is no additional information regarding the female Hispanic subject. It is unknown at this time if the female Hispanic subject crying in the area that was first reported is the same female Hispanic that was observed being placed into the Honda, or if these incidents are related.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are actively investigating the incident.
