A 19-year-old fugitive wanted in the murder of his own brother was captured Tuesday by U.S. Marshal Service’s Great Lake Fugitive Task force and charged with first-degree murder.
Yesterday, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Aurora Chief of Police Keith Cross announced the charges in the murder of the accused’s 21-year-old brother in Aurora.
Authorities allege that, during the early morning of July 25, 2022, the brothers were arguing when the accused pointed a handgun at his brother and fired a single shot, striking him. The office of Kane County Coroner Rob Russell determined the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Bail was set at $3 million, with 10 percent ($300,000) to apply for bond and a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused. The U.S. Marshal Service’s Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force took him into custody July 26, 2022. He appeared July 28, 2022, in Kane County bond court.
Judge Alice C. Tracy yesterday set the accused’s next court appearance for 9 a.m. on August 12, 2022, in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center. He remains in custody at the Kane County jail.
