4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where Scotch isn’t just for breakfast anymore!
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Yee-Haw!
Ah, summer.
A time of outdoor fun. And mosquitos. And apple pie a’la mode. And mosquitos. And baseball (at least in other cities). And mosquitos. And water parks and lake vacations. And mosquitos.
OK, you get the idea.
Well, we’ve been assured by the city fathers and mothers of West Chicago that this weekend’s “Railroad Days” festival will be mosquito-free. So get out there and get your railroad freak on!
(What in heaven’s name does “your railroad freak” even mean?)

“Our Teeth Are Better Than Yours!”
(We don’t know what that means, either. Roll with it.)
Right next door to lovely West Chicago and its celebration of all things locomotive, lovely Batavia also fete’s inanimate objects this weekend during its annual “Windmill City Festival.”
Does it seem strange to you that a city having one of the world’s most powerful particle accelerators within its city limits would choose….a windmill to celebrate? It’s kinda like Silicon Valley celebrating the fax machine.
(Ok, that was a bit of a stretch. You try writing this drivel week in and week out.)

Let’s Get One Thing Straight…
Kenny G is NOT jazz.
Just because a tune isn’t accompanied by singing doesn’t make it jazz.
Whoever came up with the marketing gimmick “smooth jazz” should be forced to endure eternity listening to Bob James albums on repeat…forever.
If you wanna hear some actual jazz, head on over to The Venue for their annual Jazz in the Park Festival. It’s the real deal.

And Finally…
If you’re into Southern rock (e.g., Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, etc.), head on over to Geneva for its RiverPark Concert Series this Sunday.
The Dixon Bandits will be playing right along the river and it will be a perfect way to finish your weekend.
But watch out for mosquitos….

Other than a rainy and possible severe Friday, it looks like a great weekend weatherwise. Saturday and Sunday the forecast looks to be perfect – sunny and comfortable. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
